DescriptionA head for figures as well as heights? Chief/Managing Helicopter Pilot required to work in Didcot, Oxfordshire (preferable but will consider other options due to nature of the role). National Grid is the largest utility in the UK and the second largest utility in the US. We play a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and the Northeast US in an efficient, reliable and safe manner. We are looking for a VFR twin engine, preferably AS355-qualified, pilot to manage the efficient and cost-effective running of our Helicopter Unit. CAA Airline Transport/JAA Commercial Pilot Licence-qualified with a first class Medical, as well as 3,000 hours flying as Pilot in Command (including 500 hours on twin engine helicopters), you’ll call on vast and varied flying experience to ensure that all our helicopters and Helicopter Unit team members are fully-equipped for success. You’re as comfortable carrying out all types of our Helicopter Unit flying (low level, power line inspection and Live Line) to a high standard as you are managing a budget of approximately £1million and reviewing and progressing contracts. You’ll also bring the interpersonal skills to provide training and support to people at all levels – acting as a focal point of aviation contact to National Grid and external customers alike. We’ll look to you to put your in-depth understanding of CAA and EASA legislation into action too, implementing a safe, effective flying programme across your Unit. Add to that a full driving licence, and we’d like to hear from you. So, if you’d like the opportunity to work for one of the world’s largest utilities within an inclusive environment that values diversity, please apply by completing an application form at http://www.nationalgrid.com/uk/Careers/opportunities/ or email careers@ngrid.com, quoting reference EXT3484.
